Being a good pad holder is one of the most important skills needed when training at Lanna MMA. Pad holding is the closest aspect to a real fight. Pad holding is a form of art and if done properly it is as if you are recreating a fight. It is one of the best workouts you can get as a student or fighter. Many professional fighters in boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA incorporate pads in their training regimen.  As an instructor I have spent a great deal of time holding pads for students and fighters. With my experience I can truly say that it is an important skill to have, especially when doing beginner classes. If every student at Lanna MMA were experienced pad holders, Lanna MMA classes would run smoother and students will achieve a better workout. Pad holding is important because if done incorrectly your training partner doesn’t get a proper workout.

There have been many examples of people that have held pad’s incorrectly resulting in students getting injured. Even the pad holder can injure themselves if they hold incorrectly. Many professional fighters seek out pad holders to improve the quality of their training. Famous trainers such as Freddy Roach have held pads for years, and with that experience they have produced some of the greatest fighters such as Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson is arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time and he received training from Freddy Roach. Experienced pad holders can turn a good fighter into a great fighter.

With this being said make sure you attend our pad holding seminars every month. Attending only one pad holding seminar is not enough, take the initiative and attend it every month. Pad holding is an art form and with any form of art it takes time to master or to improve. If every student took the initiative to hold pads every day, the quality of training at Lanna MMA would improve.
